2:27-28 Since Jesus is the Lord of humanity (1 Cor 15:25-28; Eph 1:20-22; Phil 2:9-11) and since the Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, he is Lord . . . over the Sabbath. As with Jesus’ authority to forgive sins (Mark 2:7), this was a claim to divine authority.
