In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, etc.] This is so exactly described, that there might be no mistake about the place, (see <012317>Genesis 23:17,19): which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite, for a possession of a burying place; this is observed if any of the successors of Ephron, or any of the Hittites, should lay any claim unto it, or dispute the right of Jacob’s sons to bury him there.
