And thou shalt set the table without the vail, etc.] The table of shewbread, of which (see <022523>Exodus 25:23-30), this was not to be within the vail, but without it, in the holy place: and the candlestick opposite the table, of which (see <022531>Exodus 25:31), etc. signifying, that in the church of God, in the present state of things, which the holy place was an emblem of, there are both food and light: the candlestick was placed on the side of the tabernacle, toward the south; according to Jarchi, two cubits and a half from the side of it: and thou shalt put the table on the north side; of the tabernacle, directly opposite the candlestick, two cubits and a half from the south side, as the same writer says;
