And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the Lord, etc.] That is, they gave it to those who were overseers of them, to pay them with it, (<121211>2 Kings 12:11) and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the Lord (see <121212>2 Kings 12:12) and also such as wrought iron and brass to mend the house of the Lord; where it required any work of that kind.
